Cape Town’s cultural diversity has given rise to some of the best restaurants in the world, and it’s not hard to see why. Whether you want to try a traditional Cape Malay curry or sample the amazing range of Asian delicacies, or if you want something a bit more Westernized, there are so many options available that it can be hard to choose just one place to eat. Luckily, I know of some great places to get food.

Whether you’re staying in Cape Town for work or play, there’s no shortage of amazing restaurants to enjoy delicious, seasonal fare in the Mother City. Whether you’re looking for an intimate dinner with friends or an incredible night out on the town,

So here’s my list of the top ten best restaurants in Cape Town, where you can find me any night of the week!

(01) Fyn Restaurant

Fyn is a distinctive restaurant because of its magnificent setting in one of Cape Town’s most beautiful zones. FYN is a great top-tier fine-dining restaurant with world-class food, service, setting, and environment.

The pairing of Japanese techniques with local produce results in a spectacular Tasting Menu experience, and while the full Tasting Menu experience is not cheap, it is well worth it and, when compared to its European and US counterparts, is very good value for money for the quality of the cooking and service.

It’s a beautiful entrance into the Speakeasy building, but if you’re driving, it’s definitely a good idea to book the additional for parking, or else it’s a bit tricky. Friendly and knowledgeable great tasting menu with a selection of interesting wines on their wine flight. beautiful decor and a perfect view of Table Mountain.

(02) Chefs Warehouse Beau Constantia

Beau Constantia, located at the top of the Constantia Valley, provides a casual fine-dining experience. Chef Ivor Jones offers his distinct take on the classic Chefs Warehouse dining experience, which combines a traditional tasting menu with a small sharing plate experience of contemporary dishes. Their produce is seasonal, locally sourced, and grown in part on the farm.

The food is consistently good, and the location is surrounded by vineyards. very reasonable and always provides excellent service. The views are spectacular, so I would recommend going for lunch to see the valley below. Tartare (in its various incarnations) and risotto are both popular dishes. The honeycomb desert is always a winner, and the bread and oyster starters also come highly recommended. Tuna is also consistently a great dish.

I wish I had taken better pictures, but I was too excited to eat. I will return during my next visit! You must make a reservation, and I would advise you to do so as soon as possible because they appear to fill up quickly because of their best qualities.

(03) The Waterside

The Waterside, located on the Mother City waterfront, is one of the best restaurants in Cape Town and a must-see if you’re in the area.

offers an intimate, multi-course fine-dining experience to one of the world’s most-loved destinations, with the iconic views that have made this attraction so famous worldwide. At the recent TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice it was named the second-best restaurant in Africa. “Best of the Best” Awards,

I highly recommend Waterside. I also suggest preparing up front for the cost of the experience so that you are mentally prepared. There is an automatic 13.5% service fee, but you can still find more information that may be updated. The water service is R45 per person (+13.5%) but is definitely great value.

I would definitely love to try Pier upstairs at some point, and we can definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who hasn’t tried it yet.

(04) Massimo’s

A special gem! To their taste, this establishment serves the most authentic and delicious Italian food in all of Cape Town and was voted “BEST PIZZA IN AFRICA” by 50TopPizza (in 2019 and 2021). They do make amazing pizza plus daily specials, using only the best, mainly locally sourced ingredients, and the owners are always present to ensure quality and consistency.

remember they were voted “Best Pizzeria in Africa,” so you have to go check it out for yourself. Lovely place, great vibe, top class staff, and the liquor sampling is the cherry on top. The pizza is also pretty darn good!

great spot for afternoon snacks, cocktails, beer, whiskey, lunch, or supper. Great alcoholic beverage options! I would definitely recommend trying this restaurant if you are in the area!

TIP : Main meals are frequently bobotie (curried meat and fruit with a creamy golden topping), shellfish, or mutton stew, served with vegetables. Many South African families enjoy a braai (barbeque) on weekends, with the meal often consisting of pap en vleis (maize dish) and grilled meat.
